GAP ANALYSIS AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT FOR RETAIL INDUSTRY
1.0 Introduction
Lean Six Sigma is a data-driven problem-solving and cost-reduction methodology. Lean focuses on eliminating waste, while Six Sigma reduces process variations. But how can this improve performance and profits in retail?
Retail operations often face variations—waiting times, stock availability, pricing, labeling errors, demand forecasting, customer experience, and high staff turnover due to leadership styles. These variations directly impact operational costs, which make up a large portion of selling and general expenses. Optimizing these processes can greatly enhance cost
management and customer satisfaction.
Many retail processes have error margins over 3%. Though seemingly small, in high-sales volume environments, the impact is significant. Lean Six Sigma equips participants with the skills to measure performance, identify gaps, and execute effective solutions.
In retail, processes are repeated across multiple locations and employees. When perfected using Six Sigma, controls ensure sustained positive changes over time. Yellow Belts support these projects by analyzing problems, developing, and implementing solutions, and monitoring outcomes.
To help participants identify variances and sustain improvements, this program covers three core components designed to build knowledge, skills, and competency in executing successful improvement projects.
Program Highlights:
• Learn methods to measure current performance.
• Foster a growth mindset among participants.
• Use gap analysis models (7 McKinsey’s Model and Congruence Model) to identify performance gaps.
• Develop structured problem-solving abilities.
• Focus on root-cause analysis, avoiding symptom-based solutions.
• Gain hands-on experience with problem-solving tools.
• Understand basic data analysis techniques.
• Manage resilience to change.
• Build a collaborative, customer-focused mindset.
Program Structure:
1. Understanding Lean Six Sigma Methodology for Yellow Belt Competency.
2. Applying Knowledge to address current team/department challenges with trainer
guidance.
3. Change Management for successful execution of improvement projects
